-- well, let's get right to it. across much the region. 37 in baltimore. 38 at dulles. beautiful conditions out there. nice full moon. frederick is 39. hagerstown, just 41 and ocean city, we're 40. you get the idea. going to be another cool start. our temperatures will bump back national mid-60s. it will be a comfortable afternoon. it will be a little breeze question at time as our high temperature will be well below where it should be for this time of year. not a lot happening across the mid-atlantic. some rain showers out across the eastern portions of north carolina. that will push out to sea. we should be left with abundant sunshine. a nice warming trend coming up in just a couple of minutes. lots of sunshine, cool and breezy. 64 for an afternoon high. more details on the forecast. i'll show you the forecast advisory in a minute. >> thank you.

the drive of an armored car was robbed in the district and the crooks got away with more than just cash. all of this unfolded after 7:00 last night behind a cvs on rhode island avenue northeast. police say at least three men swooped in on the armored truck, stole money and also the guard's gun. nobody was hurt. executives for goldman sachs denied doing anything wrong. senators grilled top bankers from the wall street firm for 11 hours yesterday. the ceo of goldman sachs defended his company in a heated he can change with lawmakers. republicans blocked debate on the overhaul of the financial sk. there will be a memorial service at any time for dr. dorothy height. her body is now lying in repose at the national counsel civil negro women where people lined up for hours yesterday to pay their respects at a viewing. foam, funeral services will

take place at 10:00 in the morning at the national cathedral. fox 5 will carry the funeral live on air and at a gubernatorial rematch is officially under way in maryland. martin o'malley announced his re-election bid yesterday. but to keep his job, he will have to beat the man he defeated four years ago. former governor robert ehrlich. >> reporter: martin o'malley may have moved into the governor's mansion but in baltimore, the former mayor is still a hometown favorite. the governor wasted no time drawing differences between himself and former republican governor robert ehrlich. >> there are some who run for public office to take maryland back. i run for office to move maryland forward. >> reporter: despite the waterfront backdrop, it has not all been smooth sailing during o'malley's first term, a national is he resession, a

we'll have sunshine this afternoon. we'll be a little breezy at times but after we get through the morning hours, i think there will be improvement around here. we'll have a heat wave by this weekend. let's get right to the frost advisory. there are parts of the area that are -- well, at least this the threat of temperatures in the low to mid 0s. all the counties in blue so in- close counties you were a frost advisory until 9:00. expect chilly conditions area- wide. even in places like ocean city, it is currently just 40 degrees. 45 at reagan national it will be a cool day today. even this afternoon, with the sunshine, you mix in a breeze and temperatures only in the low to mid-60s. it will be cool for this time of year. a lot of sun in the forecast. you can seat clear skies working across the mid- atlantic.

out to the split. pennsylvania still in the clear rolling down the hill from branch avenue headed in to the sousa brim. quiet to the inbound 11th street bridge. that's a check of your fox 5 on-time traffic. our big story on this wednesday morning, goldman sachs on the defensive on capitol hill. executive the company answered questions for 11 hours yesterday and the conversation became pretty heated at times as the ceo defended his company under blistering attacks from senators. lawmakers heavily criticize the the company for what they call unbridled greed. >> i deny categorically the sec alizations. >> it is gambling, pure and simple, raw gambling. they are called synthetic

because there is nothing there but the gamble, but the bet. >> goldman's stock rose more than a dollar a share yesterday, the same day the dow had its worst showing in three months, dropping # 1 # points. president obama says americans deseven a debate on the wall street bill. he spoke in iowa and criticized republicans for continuing to block the debate on the financial reform bill. those republicans refuse to allow debate on the bill for the second day in a row. the vote was the same as monday, 57-41. in the district, police are on the trail of at least lee robbers who stole cash from an armored consider. this happened on rhode island northeast. at least three people with guns swooped in, got the cash and one of the guard's guns. two hours later, police found the minivan that the gunmen were seen in speeding away. tip number one for robbers, make sure the store's owner is

line to honor her life and less -- some stood in line to honor her life and legacy. >> reporter: hundreds of people gathered to pay their respects for a civil rights legend. dr. dorothy height is a woman who was considered to be an instrumental leader in the fight for civil rights and equality. >> she was a woman for all women, regardless of race, creed, color. >> reporter: for nearly half a century, dr. height was on the front lines for change. he was elected president of the national council of negro women. she has received numerous awards including the presidential medal of freedom. >> i am one of the women who have came a long way because of her. she was inspirational to me and anything that i do, you look to her and try to do it in the perfect way that she did. she is a perfect woman to me and a mentor.

>> reporter: her work never stopped even in the most difficult of circumstances. bj swatson was her driver. >> last winter, it snowed so bad, i couldn't get out of my house. dr.height wanted to go to work. i told her i couldn't get her. she called a cab and came to work. >> reporter: watson says nothing was more special to dr. height than to live long enough to see barack obama become president of the united states. >> being on stage when the president was sworn in and just something that she always talked about, something she thought would never happen in her lifetime. >> reporter: she had so much knowledge and so many experiences, her legacy lives on through the lives she has impacted through her fight for equality. >> i remember her as a person that was a tireless worker. no matter what it took or how long it took, she was about the cause and about helping people. >> reporter: wisdom martin, fox 5 news. >> the driver says he has so many stories from just sitting

welcome back. a new gun bill battle is brewing in the senate. a bill that would everturn d.c.'s tough gun laws is expected to be introduced by

ten sores mccain and tester. it would repeal the ban on semiautomatic weapons and remove the environment that guns be kept disassembled in a home or office. d.c. delegate eleanor holmes norton says she plans to fight it. >> they want assault weapons here post nerve. why would you want those in official washington much less hometown washington? so we just got to fight it. >> many of the the changes in that bill are the same as amendmentss that were tached to the d.c. voting rights bill that norton called egregious. the federal government may challenge arizona's new immigration law t makes illegal immigration a state crime. eric holder says he is afraid the law could be open to potential abuse. that bill allows police to ask people their immigration status. critics claim that will encourage racial profiling. at a hearing on capitol hill, homeland security secretary janet napolitano, who is also the former governor of arizona,

talked about her concerns. >> because we believe it will detract from and siphon resources that we need to focus on those in the country illegally who are those who are committing the most serious crimes in addition to violating our nation's immigration laws. >> jan brewer who followed napolitano as governor claims she was forced into securing the border because of inaction from the federal government. tom ridge says he is uncomfortable with you new law but he says oth parties failed to come up with a national policy and opened the door for state laws similar to arizona. an oil slick in the gulf of mexico continues to grow larger. it is circumstance nld red on this satellite picture from nasa. this is about 50 miles long and 80 miles wide. an underwater picture shows where the oil is gushing out from the surface.

celebrating the life of a teenager who served his community, the diamond heath park opened along the anacostia. the half acre park is along the capital riverfront across from nationals park. diamond's mother says she is very happy with the tribute. >> it brings back memories and you get a little teary-eyed and stuff but you think about the accomplishments and the good things that are happening and it makes you overjoyed. >> the park includes two piers that connect to the ballpark -- connect the ballpark, rather, to the anacostia river. dime and's murder still has not been solved. yesterday was kind of a mix of clouds and sunshine and today we are starting off with

look. and even down to the south here in southern maryland, leonardtown is 36. to the east, a little warmer. cambridge is 48. in ocean city, we're 40. cool start to the day. hang in there, these temperatures will warm up. we'll have a bit of a breeze out of the west and north and west gusting to about 0 miles per hour today with highs in the mid-60s. it will be cool for this time of year. it should be pleasant way lot of sunshine expected. you can -- with a lot of sunshine expected. it should be a nice quiet one today. if what you are looking for is warmer temperatures, they are on the way as well. a little breezy out there. i mentioned the clear skies to start the day and a lot of sunshine today. a warm front will approach from the south and west tomorrow. as that moves through here, we'll see highs tomorrow about mid-70s. off we go and mid- to upper 80s around here by this weekend t will be on the hot side as we

potomac, easy ride headed over to the southeast-southwest freeway. quiet in each direction down south at the wilson bridge. that's a check of your fox 5 on-time traffic. starting tomorrow ache new law to protect your rights as an airline passenger goes into effect. it prohibits airlines from keeping passengers on planes on tarmacs for more than three hours. airlines that break the law will face maximum fines of up to $27,500 per passenger. can you now surf the net or tweet with your friends from amtrak acela trains. free wireless internet is now available on the express tans and many station along the northeast including union station here in d.c. and penn station in baltimore. d.c. wanted it and so did maryland but virginia got it. northrop grumman is relocating, moving from southern california to virginia. fox 5's john henrehan has more. >> reporter: northrop grumman already has a presence in northern virginia to be close to its main customer, the u.s. government. s that tens of thousands of works at the shipyard in newport news.

the company is also involved in aviation, technical services and information systems. virginia officials put incentives on the table but so did government leads in maryland and d.c. the ceo of the $34 billion a year company explained why virginia won out. >> the proximity and the available real estate played a big role in it. but the economics also played a big role and the economics were both the incentives put forward by the state and by the counties as well as the economics of the available real estate. >> reporter: virginia governor bob mcdonnell estimated incentives will total $12 million to $15 million for the corporate relocation but the governor says virginia will make back that money. >> we expect to have a payback of our uninvestment in a very short period of time. when you have 300 jobs that average in the neighbor of about $200,000, we think it will bring 0-muse million dollars of tax revenues to the state. >> reporter: officials say they have not finalized a real estate deal and their new

company head quartz will be somewhere in arlington or in the falls church area. that also might mean fairfax county. where should northrop go? >> anywhere that is accessible by public transportation. there is just not room for all the cars anymore. >> john henrehan, fox 5 news. >> northrop's ceo says transit is a factor but he stressed the cost of real estate is likely the biggest factor. that probably means the falls church area more likely than roslyn. rules to protect blue crabs in virginia are working so well they may be extended. virginia regulators are considering keeping the catch restriction. that includes a ban on scooping up hibernating females during the winter and no new crabbing licenses actually recent annual count found more blue crabs in the bay than at any time since 1997. it's must win tonight for the caps. it is game seven against montreal. the big question, who will be in goal for the caps? one goalie is making his pitch.

it's deal 11 years in the making and now there are major developments in the sale of the washington wizards and the verizon center. the abe pohlan family has reached a deal with ted leonsis to sell him the family share. leonsis' group says it would not comment until the deal is complete. the 53-year-old former aol boss is expected to reorganize and bring new life to the struggling wizards who are one woferts teams in the league this season. >> ted is a very decent, honorable guy. we had a good conversation today. naturally, the negotiation was long and there were disagreements. how could it be otherwise in a negotiation? but everybody was honorable and we're done. everything is okay. >> everything is okay there. but meantime, mr. leonsis'
